  1.31.03 9:51 PM (Friday)  What a way...
What a way to end January. So on Thursday I woke up early again to fill out CSS PROFILE, which was hell. 2-4-6... had a huge headache in AP Chem lab, which got worse in Physics lab because it was all dark. During Annual we had a lockdown which was kinda shaky, but nothing happened. I couldn't stay for late night but our spread is mostly done. During Annual we also took an artist/photographer pic, which hopefully will look good and be in the yearbook. After that went to Starbucks for Physics study. Haven't done it in such a long time... it was me and Mike first, then Jenny came 30 minutes later. We're all studying different things now, and we got distracted, but it was pretty fun and helpful because we ended up chatting and studying other subjects. After that I rode the bus home, it was raining, and I took a nap...

But it was an extended one. Twelve hours. I struggled to write my AP Lit paper, but it was really crappy so I had Ms. McBennett not read it so I can turn in another one on Monday. My day was so-so, nothing too exciting happened. Afterschool I kinda waited a long time for my Harvard interview. The woman who interviewed me was extremely nice, I felt like it was a great interview. I can't believe I'm so passionate about so many things... but when I think about it, I am. It's just my incredibly low self-esteem that makes me doubt myself all the time. I need to stop doing that.

Key Club hell tonight, trying to get dues in for Aaron Block and Kate Osborne, two new officers for next year that can't go to Convention unless their dues are in. Yep, it'll be exciting trying to figure out how exactly I can get them in. I've made like 50 phone calls tonight but things still aren't working out. On top of that, so many scholarships are due tomorrow. It's exciting though.
1.29.03 9:43 PM (Wednesday)  Second Day
It's only the second day of 2nd semester! Unbelievable. Today was hell because of the all nighter i pulled. I did that because I had a web assignment due. Blah I feel so crappy right now. The day went regularly, I fell fast asleep by 4th period. Lunch I went to Key Club and took Officer pix! I also fell on freshmen hill and got myself quite muddy. It was kinda funny, but embarrassing at the same time, but not really because no one really saw. I stayed afterschool for Annual late night, and I got to be in the Yearbook spread! But I finished the Key Club spread which was good. The only concern I have is that Lily is there thrice... which may not be so bad, but there are hardly any other pictures of the other people. Anyways. Central wasn't too hard today. I played Text Twist for most of the period. It's still review, I can't wait until we get to CSS. Um, gotta do some HW crap now.
1.28.03 8:12 PM (Tuesday)  First Day
First day of the new semester. My schoolday seems 10x longer now since I have AP American Gov't first period. Anyways.

Just so much work in all my classes. I won't be too specific cuz that'd be boring :) Last night I thought the workload this week would be light, but now I think the other way.

In other words, I found out I'm getting a 3.5 in Macroecon yesterday :) Oh man I just so relieved that there is some damn closure in that respect. Two months of solid worrying, it was not healthy. It's not even that big of a deal anymore. I have a feeling I'll start taking everything for granted again. But that's just my nature. Hopefully I'll get 3.5+'s in my two Central classes this quarter, which should be easy.
1.26.03 10:48 PM (Sunday)  Winter Ball, and stuff
Yesterday morning I got a haircut. My sideburns got cut off because i wasn't specific :( It doesn't look right. But it'll grow back eventually.

After that I went to Southcenter to pick up my tux. They had to alter it because the coat that came didn't have the longer sleeves that fit me, so that took 15 minutes. But yeah. I went back home afterwards.

I just chilled until 7 or so when I showered and got ready and wore the tux in completion for the first time. It looked really nice. I think it's the first completely outfit I've worn that actually fit me really well--everything else I buy is either too short or too wide for me.

I asked my sister to come drive me and Anna to the dance. It was kinda hellish, though, because we got lost. We couldn't find 927, which Anna told me was the number of her apartment complex, and we didn't have a cell, and I didn't know her number, so we turned around, headed back home to call. And yeah... then we found out it was 627. But we still couldn't find it. So I called Anna from the 7-11 on 5th and Valley and her sister dropped her off there, and we finally headed to Union Station at around 11 PM.

The actual dance was okay. We took posed pictures first, followed by pictures for Annual, then danced a little. I didn't really like the choice of songs; that, and I couldn't hear any of them. But that's understandable.

Anyways. 1 o'clock rolled around sooner than we thought, and pretty soon it was time to go. Anna and I waited for my sister to come bring us home. Yep, overall a fun evening.
1.24.03 5:48 PM (Friday)  Slacked off last night
I was going to do all my homework last night but decided to just not do it. Sleep was more important. I woke up early this morning thinking, "FUCK," then went to school. I used tutorial plus 15 or so minutes of actual first period doing TA duties for Craig-sensei; it was surprisingly light work, but I was glad I was able to do it all--it'll be the last time I can officially do them. Afterwards I went to the library to study for the Calc test. I didn't do any of the homework at all, so I attempted to start that, but it was completely futile. 3rd period began and I ran down there, a little worried, but people who just took the test assured me it was open-book. I didn't find it overall too hard because it was in fact open-book, but I missed a few things. I'm confident I still have an A average though.

Lunch was spent at Starbucks with Ada and Eric, and 5th period I did my poem, then went to the media lab to finish up the Cliques spread. It took quite longer than I expected. I practically did all the work for our spread, I had the greatest urge to run around and delete Sharmila's name in the little credits section and just make it by me. The only actual work she did on the spread was the graphs, which I had to redo--all of them--today, because they just looked so crappy. I finished the spread around 4:30, ran to Starbucks (two times in one day, hmm...) then rode the 48 and 42 home.

Since I didn't do any HW last night I have to do my Geography HW tonight, somehow rent a tux, make plans for tomorrow night. Tomorrow morning I have to get a haircut.
1.23.03 6:52 PM (Thursday)  Finals week
I'm losing my will to update this thing.

The past three days have been usual(ly busy). Tuesday was exciting because my digital camera came, finally. On Wednesday I used it to take pictures of Key Club for Annual.

Today we had our Chem final. I honestly didn't study whatsoever last night but it was all good because most questions pertained to the gas laws. I hope I did decently. It doesn't really matter, I could get a 0 and still get a medium-high A. Physics we had another rotating lab, I usually never understand them that well. And in Annual we had our group picture today, ooh. I scanned hella art and tried to finish up our spread but couldn't.

I really wish I knew what I got on my Econ final that I re-retook so I can have some damned closure. I wonder what's taking my instructor so long... he hasn't even responded to my e-mails. So shady. I hear he's a great instructor IRL, but online, man...

Tonight I have a few big tasks. I have hella math HW to do, and studying for our Chapter 9 test, then I have to get my Gates Millennium Scholarship info ready for my recommender, then AP Lit paper rought draft, then Geography HW. Fun night it looks like.
1.20.03 5:29 AM (Monday)  Our gig
Oh man it was so funny. It was on Saturday, roughly two days ago now. We had spent so much time practicing yet we really really didn't play well. But yeah.

In the morning Armand picked me up, and I took a 2.5-hour car trip to Wenatchee with him, Graham, Megan, and Stacy. We got there, then chilled at the hotels until the people from Slant 6 came (Austin, Kevin, Dave, and Sam.) Then Kjell and Alex came. We headed to the club to check it out... uhh... it was smaller than we all expected.

Pretty soon people started coming... but not too many. The band formerly named Slant 6 played first, and as usual, they were really really good. Then the local band played, and they were quite hardcore. But the crowd was into it. After they played we played. But everyone left. Which was kinda good, but our first song kinda sucked, so I think that scared everyone off.

The night was actually really funny. It was a fun and learning experience. But yeah. Kinda hillarious.

Afterwards I got a ride with Alex's dad back to Seattle. I didn't feel like staying overnight.
  1.17.03 9:36 PM (Friday)  Friday's here, but...
Two things on my mind: Geography HW and gig tomorrow. Geography homework is more pressing but it'll be done soon. Gig tomorrow... um... no worries, but I need to memorize the songs.

So I didn't stay up all night last night like anticipated. I actually fell asleep, again, a little after I got home, and woke up around 3. I did Chem lab write-up then started on Geography HW but couldn't finish two questions, so I have to do that soon.

Schoolday... kinda interesting. After 3rd period we had the MLK Assembly, yeah. Nothing too exciting about it. Physics... yeah. During lunch I went to the media lab and worked on Annual things. Thank goodness Gabino has an unbridled devotion to Annual. He helped me take pix for our spread, which were badly needed. Spent all period doing that.

LA.. blah... Annual... got some more work done. Afterschool we had band practice, the last one before our gig. We stopped by Guitar Center first to get some supplies, then headed over to Kjell's. It was pretty productive. Now just gotta memorize the lyrics to all the songs.
1.16.03 8:57 PM (Thursday)  ...still busy
Wednesday was really busy as usual. In the morning I went to the library and chilled with Long and Carl, and stayed throughout 1st. I cleaned out my Chem binder first, then did Dorian Gray Q's, and soon Dave followed me down there, and Andrea, both of whom pleaded me to come up to their Accounting class, which I did, 10 minutes before the period was about to end, because of a UW presentation that was going to take place in the library.

Math was kind of a wash, I think I was trying to be productive but for one reason or another wasn't. Key Club came next. It was cool; we got officer pins! It's on the lapel of my pea coat now. Along with a little attachment with the number "3" signifying I've been a member for three years. Although I think it was supposed to be for Eugene, but he never comes, lol. After that was LA, and yeah.

Afterschool I was going to go to band practice but decided it would be a hassle because Alex wouldn't be there, therefore no ride to Central, and that it would be most efficient if I went to Central by myself. Which it kinda was. On the way I saw John, who I haven't seen since Bumbershoot. Went to Broadway, stopped by Dick's for food, then went to do work for around 3 or so hours. Then Anna came, and we chilled, and then it was time for class. Class was interesting, I'm kinda wondering when everything will pick up. But it's good we're reviewing. Yesterday we were learning about linking and hierarchies and all that stuff that I remember learning by trial and error a long time ago. Makes me feel un-special. I played scrabble again.

Then my mom picked me up, and we stopped by Chinatown and bought food and it took forever. I got home and was exhausted. So I fell asleep. I woke up at 2, and kinda was pissed because I overslept, but decided to go back to sleep. I woke up at 5 and wrote lyrics.

Today was more of the same. 2nd period had a lab, got tests back (37.5/48... kinda bad, but kinda good.) Physics we had yet another lab I didn't understand. Lunch I went with Gabino to Dick's, we were going to take pix for my spread but didn't have time. Annual was pretty productive and we're kinda almost nearly done with spread. Afterschool got a ride with Gabino to UW, where I had the Inroads interview.

The Inroads interview wasn't really on my mind until I was actually there. Then I became a little nervous, mostly because it was a group interview. But, whatever. Interestingly, I saw Wendy there as well. I've been seeing her around a lot lately. It's kinda funny in a way.

Then I rode the bus to Kjell's house and we had a pseudo-practice, and planned some things for Saturday. I am so exhausted. But I'll stay up all night tonight.

On another note, UW accepted me today ^^ Not really a surprise though. Exciting nonetheless!
1.15.03 1:27 AM (Wednesday)  Econ final, round 3
I think I screwed myself over, but it couldn't be helped. No amount of studying could've prepared me for the test, which was chock-full of questions taken straight out of the text. Time to beg...
  1.14.03 7:54 AM (Tuesday)  Yesterday's developments
It just occurs to me I use "today" and "yesterday" depending on whether I get sleep during the night or not. Anyways.

Yesterday was chock-full of fun. The schoolday went on normally... and we had yet another Key Club officer's meeting during lunch. Hmm.

Afterschool went to Kjell's for band practice, as usual. It was reasonably productive.

After that Alex dropped me off at Central again. I got there early enough to chill with Anna. So we're going to Winter Ball! That should be exciting. And, yeah... I was supposed to come visit her after my class ended, but they were still inside their classroom, which was locked, and I wanted to leave... lol. Class was kinda interesting yesterday; we were making a webpage about Las Vegas, but suddenly I felt sick, so I played that online Scrabble game to make myself feel better. Yup.

I should study for Econ final now.
1.12.03 1:14 AM (Sunday)  GHS Key Club, like whut
Early in the morning I went to Franklin for the Key Club rally, to elect new Lt. Governers for Divisions 22/24 and 26. There was only one guy running from 22/24, Spence I think his name was, so he's the next Lt. Governer for that Division. There were two candidates from Division 26; Daniel Lee, from GHS, and Rocky from Sealth. Daniel won, of course. Rocky just seemed a little inexperienced, and a bit young (but he was a sophomore. dang.) He still has another year to run, though.

Overall it was fun times. I never realized how much I missed the whole Key Club community; I've been pretty inactive this year as a whole. With recent officer meetings, and this Key Club rally, I think it makes me feel more involved, and thus makes me want to go out to embetter the club.

Lily was there, and so was Melissa. I stayed until about 2, and then Melissa (well, her mom actually) gave me a ride to Chinatown. I bought two new CD's there: Kiroro's new CD, and Chemistry's new CD. Then I went home and slept for the longest time... (didn't get much sleep last night.)

Anyways. I am so swamped with other crap right now, I would say this is the worst weekend of homework I've ever had--ever--in life. It's not just because I have homework though, it's because of all my commitments to everything I'm involved in. But, I'm not whining.. yet. Gotta go start all that now.
1.11.03 4:39 AM (Saturday)  First week after break is over
Busy again. Wednesday had badly needed band practice, then 2nd Central class. Thursday we had a Key Club officer's meeting during lunch which was actually really useful. And during Annual we struggled to finish our spread, but couldn't. Oh well. It was good to go home directly afterschool but I took a really long nap.

Today was no change from the rest of the week: darn busy. In the morning I went to TA for the first time since before break, and I was swamped with so much crap. During 3rd I struggled to finish LA questions. And we had another Key Club officer which proved quite succesful. 5th we had a timed write on blackberries, not too fun. Afterschool absolutely nothing happened because I plan things badly. No Physics study, and I fell asleep when I got home so I couldn't come to band practice. The only thing I really could have contributed was composing a new song for which I wrote lyrics to, but.. oh well.
  1.8.03 2:28 AM (Wednesday)  Happy New Year's.
So much crap has happened since the last time I updated.

Thursday: I actually pulled an all-nighter studying for Econ. In the morning I went to UW and sent transcripts ($20!) then went to Central, studied for like two hours, then retook my Econ final. But it was the wrong one... gotta schedule re-retaking it.

Friday: Planned an IZ outing. Only, no one could go except Eugene... lol. Still, it was pretty refreshing. DDR EX is pretty cool. I was really tired because I haven't played in months. I'm quite out of shape. And that's that...

Saturday-Sunday: I spent these days cleaning my room. Took forever! I even had to stay up all night Sunday finishing it. I didn't get to any HW whatsoever.

Monday: I was hella tired because I stayed up all night. Not fun. The school day was a little boring, and hella cold because the heaters weren't on. Afterschool was kinda hectic because I was supposed to go to band practice, but it was also first day of Central night classes. So I went home, took an hour nap, then had my sister drop me off around 5 PM. I bought my books. I still had time to spare so I went inside Central to chill and stumbled across Anna, who's taking PoliSci 102 (or something... American Gov't.) We just chilled for the time until our classes started at 6. We played cards but she kept beating me -.- lol. Yeah.

So we parted when classes started (hey that kinda rhymes.) My Web 120 class was pretty cool, it seems pretty relaxed so it's all good. But the two hours seemed to go by really slowly. We got out 5 minutes before 8.

As I was leaving Central I saw Wendy! I haven't seen her in three or so years, since Jeffo's surprise party summer '00. Yeah. We talked for a few minutes.

And when I got home it was stressful because of Chem lab writeup. It was good because I had an online chat with other AP Chem people, but it still went really slowly. I spent four hours on the lab before deciding I couldn't pull another all-nighter; subsequently, I got four or five hours of sleep.

Tuesday: Okay today was no better. In the morning I felt the need to work on Calc stuff so I went to the library to do that, but didn't get very far. I understand what people are talking about in Calc now--I really don't understand the new concepts so I'm quite behind; and as I'm trying to catch up I get even more behind because we're moving way too fast. I didn't finish all my work today, but whatever. I'm not too worried about it.

And during lunch Sharmila and I went around and took more pictures for our Annual spread. The last set of pix we took were kinda crappy, but I think they'll be alright if we size them down (they are really really crappy nonetheless). Still have no idea what our dominant is going to be.

So Annual was the highlight of the day. Both Sharmila and I stayed to work on our spread. For the first two or so hours I was just getting no inspiration whatsoever, then I decided that our copy should consist mostly of quotes (which is good). At least I have direction now. Sharmila wanted to be helpful but kinda wasn't... ^^; oh well. She left a little early. After she left I started hearing her voice in my head; it was like every faint voice in the media lab sounded like Sharmila (hmmmmm....) Scary.

So we made some progress on our spread. I don't feel so lost anymore, which is good.

At any rate--tonight I have hella work to do. AP Chem HW, finishing math HW, Physics HW, AP Lit HW, Annual spread + art, Web 120 stuff, and maybe even some Geography stuff. I have a feeling that this quarter/semester will suck even worse than the period of hell before break! But it's all good.
